CW Pencil Enterprise of New York City was founded in November 2014 by Caroline Weaver, amateur pencil collector but lifelong pencil lover. Caroline aims to dig up the stories and origins of these pencils and make them accessible to those who appreciate them for their functionality, beauty and history as much as she does. In this episode, she joins us to give her view on starting a business in just 60 seconds. You can find all of our 60 second episodes right here.

Entrepreneurship to me has a lot to do with having a lot of really infectious passion. I think is what makes a business successful first and foremost. People want to see that you really care about what you’re doing and that you’ve put a lot of thought into it, especially with retail (what I’m doing).

I think it also has a lot to do with doing things slowly and doing them right. Everything these days is so fast, I just really believe that there’s something to be said for taking your time and putting a lot of thought and care into the way that you do everything whether it’s from forming a business initially, to designing a store to customer interaction etc.

I just think it has a lot to do with personal interface with people, that you respond to emails and you’re really nice and personal about it and that people understand you’re a real person, I think that’s the most important thing.
